陸方片面宣布啟動M503航線，蔡政府大動作暫不批准中國東方航空、廈門航空春節加班機因應，陸方仍在審核我方航空公司的加班機申請，尚未回應。我方搬出一堆飛安與國安理由，說穿了，就是大陸直接啟用M503航路，讓蔡政府沒面子，賭氣下砍陸航加班機。當下M503航路事件衍生春節包機暫緩等效應愈來愈大，需要的是理性與和氣，而非賭氣與政治算計。
按時程，第一波加班機時間為2月6日，目前陸方還在審核我方航空公司的額外加班機申請，蔡政府也按兵不動，尚未明確駁回東航、廈航春節加班機。以蔡政府角度看，陸方若先駁回我方航空公司額外的加班機申請，來填補砍去廈航與東航春節加班機的缺口，跟進駁回自是順理成章。
另一方面，陸委會主委張小月出席年終記者會時，多次引用親綠智庫民調數據，合理化蔡政府在M503航線爭議上的應對。種種舉動看來，蔡政府有意藉M503航線爭議，迫使陸方上談判桌，若陸方不理，對內也能展現盡力而為的政治姿態。
蔡政府以民意為劍、充滿政治算計的做法，無疑是一手兩面刃，陸方是否願意重啟對話不說，光對兩岸關係的衝擊，及漠視民眾往返兩岸的權益，其後座力蔡政府恐怕吃不消。
